The DOL is making enforcement of federal laws impossible by refusing to investigate third-party complaints regarding wage and hour violations/timekeeping violations. Even though the complainant has not personally experienced a timekeeping violation does not mean it has not occurred. Many employees, especially those who are at-will employees, are afraid to bring forth a complaint for fear of losing their jobs and benefits. When someone is willing to come forward with direct knowledge of violations of federal law, the DOL needs to investigate these third-party complaints. By refusing to investigate, the DOL perpetuates the intimidation and power that the employer wields over employees.
